4 Steps to a Great Career - Career Management Workshop for High Potential Employees

Why is career coaching essential to employee retention?  Because Career Development has consistently ranked as one of the top 5 reasons employees seek other opportunities.

Not only do they need to see a career path within your company, they are dying for training on how to better manage their careers to reach their personal and professional goals.

This series of 4, 90 minute workshops is ideal for that (and very cost effective - just a fraction of the price of traditional executive coaching).  And managers LOVE them because it helps the employee focus on "reigniting their professional passion" within their current role / company as opposed to looking elsewhere.

Background of Course: In the 15 years I worked as a recruiter I was lucky enough to observe many capable and talented people successfully reach their goals and achieve their dreams: whether those goals and dreams included rising to the top of the corporate ladder, successfully managing career around family or simply doing meaningful work with good companies and working with interesting people.

Unfortunately I observed many, many more, equally capable and talented people who never quite reached their full potential.

In 2002 I became obsessed with the difference between these two groups of people.  Was it education, experience, raw talent, personality, luck?  I discovered (much to my shock) it was none of those. 

I identified 4 key factors that ensure that people succeed which I now call The Critical Path to a Great Career and I've taught these concepts to now hundreds of people with great results! 

What's fantastic about this opportunity is the ability to work with their own peers in a group session.  The Mastermind Experience is a very collaborative, very supportive experience that generates tremendous ideas for the benefit of both the individual as well as the team.

In these 4, 90 minute sessions I take the group through each step on the Critical Path to a Great Career.  They have a series of exercises between each session that helps them to get very clear on the concepts and apply them to your their own lives.  They will walk away with a workbook full of tools and examples to refer to whenever they need to refresh their career planning or need a bit of a boost. 

Most importantly, they will walk away with a clear sense of direction and an action plan of how to achieve the results they want to achieve.  They will understand what their "special sauce" is and how they can apply that for life long opportunities and greater fulfillment and they will have a number of tools at their disposal to spring back from setbacks and overcome blockages that might be keeping them from success.

As a result, they will also become more productive and fulfilled within their current role, which will help the company reach it’s business goals.  A true win / win for both parties.

Session 1: How to 'Set Your Course'. Determine what you really want out of you life, professionally and personally and learn how to develop a 3 - 5 year plan. Complete with a goal setting exercise and decision matrices to help you elegantly and efficiently decide between options.
Session 2: 'Make Your Mark'. What makes you unique? Figuring this out will not only help you become indispensable in your current role, it will also dramatically increase your own job satisfaction and ensure consistent opportunities during your entire career. We will go through specific exercises to help you determine your strengths, interests and abilities leading you to determine your own 'Special Sauce.'
Session 3: 'Master Your Skills'. There are 4 critical skills, unrelated to your function that are essential for all business professionals; Technology, Managerial, Communication and Innovation / Problem solving. During this session we explore your personal gaps within these 4 skill and help you come up with a plan to 'mind the gap' to ensure that you don’t fall behind. We will also work on an creative problem solving exercise designed to give you a framework to think more laterally about any problems you may encounter.
Session 4: 'Condition Resilience'. Every career (and life) has setbacks: times where things don’t go to plan or happen as quickly as you’d like. Your ability to pick yourself up and dust yourself off will, in many cases, be the ultimate test for how high you can climb and how happy and fulfilled you will be. In this session I will give you a very insightful and humorous overview of the human brain and help you with 2 - 3 practical tools to thrive through any setback, delay or change: personal or professional. This workshop will be both fun and interactive and will guarantee that you will walk away with solutions you can apply immediately to your life and teach your staff to apply to theirs.
